An agriculture consensus done in 2016 revealed some interesting facts regarding the amount of sheep and sheep farms in the US. With a total of 5, 320,000 sheep and lambs in the US, the vast majority are located first in Texas, followed by California, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, South Dakota, Montana, Oregon and lastly Iowa. Texas has 735,000 head of sheep, and while that might seem like a lot, it has been established that compared to all other agricultural and animal industries in the US, that it is indeed minimal, and the entire number accounts for less than one per cent of all US livestock.
